Francis Dane Hess, age 80, of Chrisman, Illinois passed away peacefully at 7:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Friends Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #211.
Dane was born on February 27, 1944, in Danville, Illinois to Phillip Harold and Vida (Skidmore) Hess. He married Judy Ogle on November 24, 1966, at St. Mary's Catholic Church and she survives.
Dane was a proud and dedicated member of the Illinois National Guard, where he served with the 1544th Transportation Company. He was a graduate of Scottland High School. Dane was a farmer, and he also worked for over 20 years for the ASCS office and worked for McLane Midwest and NAL. He also spent time as a mail carrier, school aid and bus driver. An avid spo
